Friends in Christ,
“In the bleak midwinter
Frosty wind made moan
Earth stood hard as iron
Water like a stone”
This beginning to the poem “In the Bleak Midwinter” by Christina Rossetti may well encompass your feelings on winter, especially this stretch. Christmas and New Years have come and gone, the lights are “undecorated” as Pastor Nick referenced in his sermon on Jan 8, and maybe it feels “bleak” to you in these midwinter days and nights.
Our hope is that this next round of small groups would be a source of warmth amidst the moaning, frosty wind... though it has been unseasonably warm of late! Much of the content in this round of groups is more fellowship-based than depth of study, largely on purpose. We pray the mutual support of fellow disciples in activities you may enjoy, such as seed starting, reading, eating, or playing pickleball for example, would cheer you and remind you of the joy found in the Body of Christ, His Church.
So sign up! Invite a non-LCR friend or neighbor! Have some fun and meet fellow Resurrection folks. After winter does come spring, yet even the bleak midwinter has been redeemed by Jesus. Use these weekly gatherings to push away the darkness, the bleakness, remembering that the light has come and the darkness has not and cannot overcome it!

The Daniel Fast
Thursdays at 6:30pm starting Feb 2 - Resurrection Hospitality Room
Have you ever been SO famished you couldn't focus?? Have your thoughts been derailed by the rumbling in your tummy? Imagine if that intense hunger was actually a longing or desire to draw closer to God! Throughout the next twenty one days, you will give yourself over to a spiritual discipline that will help renew your walk with Him. With daily prayer and devotion, you can find joy in your relationship with God. This is not a total fast, but rather a surrender of the foods and drinks that we tend to indulge in or become dependent on, and instead become addicted to God! Commitment can be challenging, but that is why we will take this challenge together, and provide daily encouragement, accountability, and support to keep us all on track. We will kick-off our program with a week of preparation, three weeks of The Daniel Fast, and then lastly a week of reflection. What better way to usher in the New Year than with a total recommitment to God!
Thursdays at 6:30pm starting Feb 2 - Resurrection Gym
This new-ish sport, which has become all the rage for people of every age and athletic ability, will be set up and ready for play on Thursdays in the gym at Resurrection. All ages and abilities welcome! We will pray, play, and have a blast. Join us!
